Ministry School: One year training in supernatural ministry, leadership and Biblical Studies. Certificate of Ministry & Leaders (not accredited by NZQA)
Music School: One year training in collaboration with Excel Performing Arts School where you will grow in your musical gift in the context of worship and contemporary music. Certificate of Music (Fully accredited by NZQA, fees free options available)
Internship: One year dedicated to personal & spiritual growth. You can do the internship alongside your existing study or work situation. The internship includes the Certificate in Ministry & Leadership.

Ministry School

This includes mentorship & personal development on Mondays 9AM-3PM + Sunday commitments dependant on your ministry focus area.

One year training in collaboration with Excel Performing Arts School where you will grow in your musical gift. Certificate of Music Level 4. Choose a major in Vocals, Bass, Drums, Guitar or Keys. 1 on 1 coaching in your major. Write & perform your own original songs.

Great question! Ministry School is a year of study in practical ministry and biblical theology to develop you in leadership and unlock the ministry call on your life in a greater capacity. Classes are on Tuesdays during the school terms from 7PM-9PM. Alongside classes you will need to select a ministry focus area to practically apply what you learn.

The Internship is a brilliant opportunity where you take a year to grow in your personal & spiritual walk with God. While doing the Internship you will also complete the Ministry School however the Internship takes your growth to the next level. It involves dedicating Mondays 9AM-3PM along with Sunday commitments in your chosen Ministry Area. You’ll be given strong mentorship, leadership development along with a wide variety of ministry opportunities.

Good question! The Music School is a collaboration between Encounter Church & Excel Performing Arts School. Students in the music school take one year to grow in their musical gifting through practical experience in our Worship team and contemporary bands at Excel along with music theory to enhance their skillset in music. By the end of the year students will receive a Certificate in Music accredited by NZQA. Incorporated into the Music School.

Absolutely! This is exactly what the Internship is designed for. Interns can continue with their study or work while doing the internship. Some Interns choose to do our Music School however you can choose to study whatever you want to while doing the internship.

Ps. Brent Douglas
With a heart and vision to build and support the ‘local church’ and leader Ps Brent saw the need to develop quality leaders who could stay in the local church while being equipped. It is from this place that he designed the Ministry School. Brent continues to equip and train leaders for ministry and is seen by many as an apostle, prophet and father of the faith for the nation of New Zealand.
Tony Gordon
Tony is a gifted teacher and has a heart to equip young adults to know the Word of God and apply that to their daily life. Tony has been an active part of Encounter Church for over 25 years and has been the Dean of the Ministry School for 5 years.
Ps. Joel Patchett
Joel encountered God at a young age, and has grown up at Encounter Church seeing God move in power regularly. He brings a dynamic communication style and carries a passion to see people equipped, activated and empowered in the call of God on their life. Joel hungers to see a move of God happen across our nation, particularly in the next generation. He has a heart and a mandate to raise up and equip the next generation. He is married to Bridie and has three children.
Stuart McEwing
Stuart is a longstanding member of Encounter Church with a love for people, good theology and the Bible. He is a dynamic communicator, trained teacher and theologian, with a passion for taking complex ideas down from the top-shelf, making them accessible and comprehensible to all. He has a wide range of interests, but specialises in the rational grounds for belief and the coherence of the Christian system of thought. He is married to Renée McEwing and has three children.
